Valentine’s Day is loved and loathed by people across the nation. It’s either a day to celebrate romance or wallow in one’s loneliness.
Whether you’re a lover or a crier, Valentine’s Day will arrive on February 14 every year. This year it falls on a Wednesday, so you’re running out of time to make plans. But don’t worry, there’s still time to download the perfect app.
It’s no secret that there are a lot of apps on the App Store. According to data from Statista there are over 2.2 million apps available for purchase or download. At least a handful of those will help on Valentine’s Day, right?
Take a look at this list of apps that will help you tell them how you feel, order fresh flowers, or book the perfect night out.
Send a Gift
With only a few days left until the big day, you may want to get that special someone, a special gift. Apps like Amazon are great for quick shipping; but, you may also want to check out these others for a more heartfelt touch.
1800Flowers.com
If flowers are a must for your sweetheart, you may want to download the 1800Flowers.com app. It supports Apple Pay so checkout is easy, and delivery is available in a large number of areas. Of course, you may want to order soon, delivery is usually a couple of days out.
Edible Arrangements
If flowers aren’t really their thing, but you still want that special touch, give Edible Arrangements a try. These flower-like arrangements of fruit and chocolates are sure to sweeten anyone’s day. Like 1800Flowers, Edible Arrangements delivers to many locations. You can also pickup your order for free.
Their app doesn’t support Apple Pay, but you can choose to pay with PayPal if you don’t want to use a card. In addition to fruit and chocolate, you can also add stuffed bears or balloons to your order.
Giftagram
Giftagram has a large selection of gifts for many occasions. They even hand deliver the gift by courier. Orders placed between now and Sunday, should arrive by Valentine’s Day.
Not sure what to get? Giftagram’s concierge service will help you find the perfect present. The app can also remind you when someone’s birthday is coming up so you can always have a gift ready to go.
Giftagram doesn’t support Apple Pay, but you can scan a card to add it quickly. You can also get credits to use on your purchases when an invited friend signs up.
Write a Love Letter
There are many apps available on the App Store for sending personalized letters or cards. Ink Cards and Felt seem to be the best options. Unfortunately, Ink doesn’t guarantee Valentine’s delivery on orders placed after February 5. You’re welcome to try though (delivery estimates are 3-8 days).
Felt
Felt’s delivery times vary depending on what’s ordered and where it ships to, but this may be your best bet for creating a custom card.
Felt is unique because it lets you handwrite your message if you choose. You can do this with your finger or a capacitive stylus. But I’ve found iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil is the way to go.
Cards start at just $3 and you can choose to add a gift or flowers. You can even add cash or a gift card if you’re not sure what to get.
Find a Date
Maybe you’re not into Valentine’s Day because you’re single, or maybe you haven’t found a Valentine’s date. No worries. While there are plenty of dating apps available on the App Store, Tinder is by far the most popular, and will likely be one of the fastest options for finding a date by Wednesday.
Tinder
Tinder is essentially a hot-or-not catalogue of potential dates. If you find someone you’d like you swipe right, and if they’re not your preference you swipe left. If two users swipe right on each other, the app will inform them of a match.
Tinder is still the dating app of choice for most users. In fact, it’s the number one dating app on the App Store right now. Other popular dating apps include Match, Grindr, Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble, and Muzmatch to name a few.
Fun fact, most of the apps are all part of the Match Group. This includes Match, Tinder, OKCupid, POF Dating, and others.
Make Plans
Now that you’ve found a date, you might want to plan a date. Apps like Yelp and Foursquare are great for finding a location. Here are a few other apps that will help make the night go off without a hitch.
OpenTable
With over 43,000 supported locations, OpenTable makes reservations easy. In fact, you can just ask Siri to make the reservation for you.
Hello Vino
Not everyone has a nose for wine and choosing the right bottle for the occasion can be hard. Hello Vino is a wine expert in your pocket.
Hello Vino learns your tastes so it can make intelligent recommendations. It also lets you find the best wine to compliment your meal. And with a community of 2,000,000 users, you can check out user reviews to find which wines are the most popular.
Fandango
After dinner, why not see a movie? Fandango lets users find seats at more than 26,000 theaters across the nation. The Fandango app supports Apple Pay for easy checkout. And users can add the ticket to Wallet and Calendar for added convenience.
StubHub
Maybe a movie’s just not big enough. StubHub has you covered with tickets to over 10 million events, including sports, concerts, and more. Like Fandango, StubHub supports Apple Pay for easy checkout and Wallet so your tickets are right on your phone or Apple Watch.
Final Thoughts
With so many options for finding the perfect gift, planning a date, or telling them how you feel, the App Store really takes away any excuse for not making this Valentine’s day special. Even last minute planning can be easy with you iPhone. Happy Valentine’s Day!
