Apple Begins Pushing iOS 11 Tips to Current Users

Apple has begun educating the public on upcoming iOS 11 features through the native Tips app on current versions of iOS, according to a handful of user reports on Twitter and Reddit.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 5 Apple began sending out push notifications encouraging users to read about upcoming iOS 11 changes in Tips. The tips covered a range of new features, including the revamped Control Center, Siri Translate, the new Mac-style Dock for iPad, and others. That’s assuming that the Tips app is still installed on a device, as Apple added the ability to remove it in iOS 10.

Apple is slated to roll out iOS 11 to the general public sometime next week, likely after its September announcement event on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Judging by Apple’s release history, the new operating system should see a general release just about a week after the event — tentatively, during the week of Sept. 18.

iOS 11 is a major update to Apple’s mobile operating system and will introduce a number of changes — some of them significant. Presumably, Apple is helping users gear up for the major features and big updates to functionality. The next-generation software will add a revamped and customizable Control Center, a new Lock screen that’s been merged with the Notification Center, and a variety of visual UI tweaks. iOS 11 will also introduce a Do Not Disturb While Driving feature, peer-to-peer payment support for Apple Pay, and a variety of upgrades to Siri and native Apple applications.

Notably, iOS 11 will also be one of the biggest updates to the iPad operating system. At launch, it’ll add several capabilities that’ll make the iPad OS much more akin to a full notebook. Those features include the aforementioned Mac-style Dock, a native Files app for managing data, and improved system-wide multitasking, among others.
