NikeLab Announces Slick Limited-Edition Apple Watch

Nike today announced the sleek new Apple Watch NikeLab, the result of the latest collaboration between Cupertino and the sportswear giant.

Apple and Nike have had a long-standing partnership, but unlike previous collaborations between the two companies, the Apple Watch NikeLab is a slick, toned-down wearable crafted in a more neutral color palette. The limited edition Apple Watch pairs a Space Gray casing with an exclusive Light Bone / Black Nike Sport Band — making it “the perfect style companion” for runners and athletes looking for a more laid-back aesthetic. It’ll be available in both 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch sizes.

Like previous iterations of the Apple Watch Series 2, the NikeLab edition will retain deep integration with Nike+ Run Club and Nike-exclusive Watch faces and fonts. Like all Series 2 models, the Apple Watch NikeLab will be water-resistant up to 50 meters — letting you swim and sweat to your heart’s content. It doesn’t carry any other special features or functionality, but its limited-run look will certainly help Nike and Apple fans stand out in a crowd.

NikeLab is the sportswear company’s creative branch, which frequently collaborates with top designers and fashion labels to create exclusive, limited-edition products, according to Mashable. That exclusivity is apparently carrying over to the NikeLab-edition Apple Watch. The NikeLab Watch will only be available from Nike’s website, NikeLab brick-and-mortar outlets, and a single Apple Watch Store in Isetan, Japan. That’s a first for Cupertino: there’s never been an Apple Watch that hasn’t been available directly from the company itself.

The Apple Watch NikeLab will drop on April 27. Currently, no price has been announced — but it’ll likely retail for a bit more than a vanilla Series 2, due to its limited and exclusive run.
