The iPhone 3G is the second smartphone release from Apple. It is available in a black or black and white design. It was introduced in June 2008 and discontinued in June 2010. While similar to its predecessor, it has a number of novel features.  The iPhone 3G screen size and resolution was good for that time but is much bigger and better now.

Assisted GPS and 3G data are some of the benefits included in the new model. Users on the go can use the GPS application to conveniently get directions to their destination. 3G data allows for five hours of talk time and five hours of internet. Users can choose to not utilize the 3G option for 10 hours of talk time on 2G and six hours of Wi-Fi internet. Seven hours of video playback and 24 hours of audio playback are also available. Apple strived to make the iPhone 3G sustainable. Components were engineered without harmful chemicals, packaging was made from recycled materials and the power adaptor outperformed global energy efficiency standards. In addition, users can enjoy built-in speakers and microphone to record or listen to audio. A SIM card is stored in a SIM tray and can be easily accessed with the included eject tool. External buttons and controls include a sleep and wake feature to set alarms, a silent feature to mute sound, and a volume button that allows users to quickly adjust sound levels.
