Amazon Reveals Ultra-Popular Items in ‘Best of Prime 2017’ List

Last year was a good one for Amazon. Its share price increased 57 percent year-over-year, its 2017 holiday season was its best year, and the company is seeing significant gains in its Amazon Prime service.

During that shopping season, Amazon saw more than 4 million new subscribers to Prime in one week. The retail giant also announced that more paid members joined Amazon Prime in 2017 than any other previous year on record. Throughout the last 12 months, it also shipped more than 5 billion items via Prime.

It was a good year for Amazon, and perhaps the best year for Prime. And in that same vein, the company has recently published a “Best of Prime 2017” list with some interesting facts about its service — and popular items on that service — over the previous 365 days.

The most commonly purchased items via Prime were the Echo Dot, the Amazon Fire TV stick, and Amazon Basic Cables. But, as far as non-Amazon devices, the most popular item in the United States was the Instant Pot (which, interestingly has a bit of a cult following). It was the most gifted item of 2017, the item most frequently added to users’ wish lists, and was delivered to over 27,000 zip codes across the U.S.

Here’s Amazon’s list of the most popular items in other countries (excluding Amazon devices).

U.S. & Canada: Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
Mexico: Nintendo Switch
UK: TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug
Japan: Savas Whey Protein
India: Oneplus 5
Spain: Sandisk Ultra Fit 64GB USB
Italy: Finish All In One Max Tablets
China: Fisher-Price Soothe & Glow Seahorse

As far as its music streaming service, “Believer” by Imagine Dragons and “Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers were the most listened-to songs.

Amazon also shared a few other investing tidbits about its Prime service and deliveries. For example, it said that bananas were the most ordered item via its AmazonFresh grocery delivery service. For its Amazon Dash button service, the most ordered items were Bounty paper towels.

Amazon also tracked the speediest deliveries for its PrimeNow 2-hour-delivery service. That honor goes to a forehead thermometer, which was reportedly delivered 8 minutes after it had been ordered.
