A new Facebook feature allows job seekers to search for fresh positions right inside of their favorite social media app.
Businesses in the United States and Canada are now able to post open career positions on their Facebook pages. Businesses will also be able to manage applications and reach out to applicants directly within Facebook and Facebook Messenger, according to Fast Company.
And yes, citing early reviews of the new feature, using the ‘Jobs’ feature is as easy to use as one would think. “It took three minutes to fill out the information and put it out there. Then someone saw the post, we talked, and it was done,” said Wendy Grahn, co-owner of the Chicago-based Lakeview Kitchen and Market.
For maximum hiring potential, employers’ job openings will also populate in the News Feeds of suitable applicants, alerting Facebook users of appropriate positions that they might not have been aware of otherwise.
Applicants are able to click on an ‘Apply Now’ button, which will open a form with pre-populated user information derived directly from their Facebook profile; a move that job seekers who use LinkedIn will gladly recognize.
In the past, it would’ve been slightly awkward to receive a Facebook friend request from your boss, but in 2017, it might just be the new normal.
