Samsung Galaxy S8 Expected to Ship in Three Colors This April

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be available in at least three color options when it launches later this month, according to a new leak.

That information comes from famed phone leaker Evan Blass, who tweeted a picture of the available colors on March 19. While it is just a rumor, it’s worth noting that Blass has a pretty impeccable track record of accurate leaked information. According to his tweet, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will both be available in three options: Black Sky, Orchid Grey, and Arctic Silver.

In addition to revealing the color options at launch, Blass also tweeted the alleged European retail prices of the two Samsung flagships, as well as some upcoming accessories. According to him, the S8 will start at €799, and the S8+ will start at €899 ($858.53 and $965.96 in U.S. Dollars, respectively). A docking station called the DeX will run consumers €150, while the GearVR headset will retail for €129 and the Gear360 camera will retail at €229.

As seen in previous leaks, elements of the Samsung S8’s design echoes similar design rumors for Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone. Smartphone war aside, this year is looking like it’ll turn into the year that marks the death of big bezels and home buttons on industry flagships — as leaks of the S8 show off a minimally-bezeled aesthetic with no home button and a massive, curved AMOLED display. The S8 will also reportedly run on Snapdragon’s newest 835 chipset, and will be the first Samsung phone to ship with its newly announced Bixby personal assistant.

In any case, the Galaxy S8 will likely be an important device for Samsung’s reputation as it recovers from the wake of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. And in all likelihood, the S8 is likely to steal the show for a good portion of 2017 — at least, until Apple officially releases its overhauled, completely redesigned flagship later this year.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 lineup at a March 29 event in New York City. And it will begin shipping to consumers on April 21, according to Korea-based publication ET News, who cited a “high-ranking official” in the mobile network industry.
