WWDC ’17 Decorations Are Already Going Up in San Jose

Apple’s 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference is nearly upon us — and the company is already decorating the Bay Area convention center where it’s going to be held. McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California is being adorned in decorations ahead of WWDC ‘17, as seen in several pictures of the center that were posted to Twitter.

Organizers have already hung a large banner from the front of the building, and one entire side of the building has been decorated. Similarly, smaller banners are apparently being hung from nearby light posts and street signs. All of the WWDC ’17 artwork was reportedly created by Los Angeles-based Geoff McFettridge. Also notable is the fact that the McEnery Convention Center was the site of the original WWDC in 1988 — and it’s a short jaunt from the newly opened Apple Park.

Apple is expected to cover a lot of ground at WWDC this year, including announcing new versions of its various operating systems (iOS 11 among them). According to one renowned analyst, there’s also about a 70 percent chance that new iPad Pro models will be unveiled at the event — including a 10.5-inch iPad Pro with minimal bezels. As for other hardware, a Siri speaker announcement seems imminent, as the device has reportedly already entered production. Additionally, rumors suggest an incremental refresh to several MacBook Pro models.

Of course, most of that is still up in the air at this point, and we’ll have to wait until next week to see which rumors are true. If you want more details and a full schedule of the event, Apple has updated its official WWDC app (free on the App Store) with the appropriate 2017 information. The event is slated to kick off at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 5 with the usual keynote.
