Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, is under fire today for defending the Republican Party’s Obamacare replacement, according to CNN, due to his statement reflecting Americans’ apparent choices of substituting health care with “that new iPhone.”
On CNN’s “New Day” Chaffetz indicated, “Americans have choices, and they’ve got to make a choice. So rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and want to go spend hundreds of dollars on that, maybe they should invest in their own health care.”
It is a well-known fact that health care can be extremely costly in the United States and much more so than Apple’s flagship smartphones. Users of Twitter have taken the opportunity to share their experiences with the cost of an iPhone versus what they’ve paid to use health services. The outpour of comments seeks to prove disconnect between various officials’ mindsets and reality.
6 days in ICU cost my family 310 iPhones, and that was when we had insurance, @jasoninthehouse

My insulin, with no insurance coverage, would cost me about $3,000 a month. $36,000 a year. An iPhone 7 is $650. https://t.co/8bJm6TreSW
