BeatsX Won’t Ship Until Next Year, Apple Reseller Email Suggests

Apple’s BeatsX headphones might not ship until March, according to a new report.

The news comes from an email sent to customers by B&H Photo Video, an authorized Apple retailer. In it, the reseller said that customers could expect the headphones to ship in 2 to 3 months, according to Cult of Mac.

“We regret to inform you that the manufacturer has informed us that they still do not know when they will begin shipping this item but they do know that it will take at least 2-3 months,” B&H wrote in the email. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay has caused you.”

If that email proves to be true, and Apple sticks to the deadline, shipments of the BeatsX headphones might not go out until February or March. Of course, the email could only apply to B&H, and Apple could release the BeatsX on its website earlier. But that might be unlikely, as a 3-month gap between the two releases would be unusual, MacRumors points out.

BeatsX were unveiled alongside AirPods during Apple’s iPhone 7 keynote in September. It isn’t known what exactly is delaying the BeatsX release, but Apple has run into problems with audio syncing and other issues, according to the Wall Street Journal. Since both wireless headphones rely on the W1 chip, Cupertino could be running into similar problems with BeatsX. On the other hand, Apple already has two wireless headphones that use the W1 chip for sale on its website: Beats Solo3 and Powerbeats 3.

Apple’s AirPods were released Tuesday, December 13th suggesting Apple might be having a different and completely separate problem with the development, refinement or manufacturing of BeatsX headphones.

As of the writing of this article, BeatsX are still listed on Apple’s website as “coming this fall.”
