How to Block All Unknown and Suspicious Calls on Your iPhone

Telemarketing calls and wrong dials are constant disturbances in our hyper-connected lives in which phones are constant companions. They interrupt conversations, distract you from your favorite TV show, and force you to listen to unwanted automated messages, leaving you feeling slightly annoyed and disappointed afterwards. To save yourself some grief and time, you can set your iPhone to block calls from strangers and unidentified numbers.

This fix leverages the underused Do Not Disturb function, and sets your iPhone to receive calls only from your Contacts list. It’s quick, simple, and very effective.

We detail the steps for you below:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Do Not Disturb.
  3. Slide the Manual option bar to the right to enable Do Not Disturb. You should see a crescent moon icon appear at the top-right of your screen.
  4. Select Allow Calls From which will take you to a menu with four choices
  5. Select All Contacts to allow only those numbers in your contact list to call you. If you want to limit it to your Favorites, select that option instead. If you’re in an important meeting and want to block every single call without shutting off your phone, select No One.
