Apple CEO, Tim Cook, on Thursday Tweeted a photo of himself that sent the web into a bit of a tizzy. No, the otherwise soft-spoken executive wasn’t doing anything vivacious or wearing anything out of the ordinary when the candid snapshot was taken, but what the internet is all abuzz about is what many allege to be the outline of an iPhone 8 handset protruding from Cook’s front-right pocket.
The image was shared to Twitter on Thursday by Cook, himself, and appears to have been captured without notice by someone in the group he was traveling with. Cook and Co. were visiting a manufacturing facility at the time in Cincinnati, Ohio, which belongs to CTS — Apple’s long-time manufacturing partner for testing equipment.
Now, we have no hard evidence to prove the device creating a bulge in Cook’s pocket is indeed the iPhone 8 — however it’s large and elongated enough to be an iPhone 8, at least, which will reportedly embody a form-factor whose size falls in between that of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but that is overall longer, rectangular, and features the same pronounced, curved corners we can see of the mystery device in Cook’s pocket.
Looks like Tim Cook is carrying an iPhone 8 in his pocket. It is too tall to be an iPhone 7 and too narrow to be a 7 Plus 🤔 http://pic.twitter.com/Oxksy6zdXG

Of course, the bulge is the outline of a device we have not seen yet, which is fuel behind the speculation Cook has indeed gotten his hands on the iPhone 8 already. On the other hand, there’s always the sobering possibility that the phone-shaped device in Cook’s pocket isn’t even a phone, after all. But then what is it?
Unfortunately, the world may never know — but we’ll get a much better idea in September when the iPhone 8, 7s and 7s Plus, and other new devices are shown off at Apple’s special event.
